Before You See A Quiet Place Day One

ithinkie | Before you see A Quiet Place Day One

Before you go and see A Quiet Place Day One, make sure that you read this review.  I saw the original with John Krasinski, (Jim from The Office).  That one was cool.  Partially because it was a new concept.  Partially because of the exploration and development of the family unit.  We (my ithinkie friends and I) enjoyed it.  A Quiet Place Part 2 was less enjoyable, but still somewhat interesting.  A Quiet Place Day One, however was pretty bland.

After sitting through it all, I would say that the loss of the family element made it boring.  If you remember, A Quiet Place Part 2 still incorporated family units and it was therefore somewhat interesting.

Spoiler Alert On!!

Missing a Vital Element

A Quiet Place Day One failed to develop a familial element that we could watch.  Instead, there were only elements from the main character’s memory that were shared with the audience.  It was just really boring.  It was the writing…it was just so flat.  Although there were a few edgy moments like in the sewer and during the mass exodus in the streets that were gripping, there was no real character development.  It was like there were things happening to people, but we didn’t and couldn’t really care.

Spoiler Alert Off!!

Again, I blame the writing.  The acting was believable.  The cinematography was appropriate.  The special effects were decent.  It was just the plot itself and the lack of character development…the writing.  This movie just seemed like a boring waste of time, unfortunately.

I mean, even commercials have some level of character development, right?  Come on!

This is a No Go!

My suggestion would be to save your money or see something else.  Do not go to see A Quiet Place Day One.  It really is not good.

Lastly, think about this, the selling point for this movie was New York City and aliens, right?  I mean, in the trailer, you see a areal view of New York and you hear all of the sounds of traffic and people.  Then you see the aliens arriving.  This is all used as a selling point to market A Quiet Place Day One.  Yet there was absolutely nothing “New York” in this movie.  Just ask yourself, really…what would happen if those things came to New York?  I guarantee that it wouldn’t be anything like what we saw in A Quiet Place Day One.  Those things would have definitely had more of a fight on their hands and they probably would have lost!  New York, stand up!

That’s what ithinkie!

If you decide to see A Quiet Place Day One anyway, reach out and let us know your thoughts.  Was I right?  I think you’ll agree with me on this one.
