It’s time for the Gladiator 2 Trailer Review. Everyone is watching and re-watching the new trailer for Gladiator 2. Understandably, this new trailer has been met with mixed feedback. Sure there are questions about the plot, but much of the conjecture surrounds the idea of necessity. Do we really need a second part to the 2000 classic that is Gladiator? Here at ithinkie, we think that Gladiator (2000) was so good that it does’t need a sequel.
However, Gladiator 2 is here, we’ve seen the trailer and here’s what we think…
The ithinkie Consensus on Gladiator 2
The main character (Lucius) is the son of Maximus and Lucilla. Where do we get this from? Think back to Gladiator (2000). Remember when Maximus came out of Marcus Aurelius’ tent? Lucilla said to him, “My father favors you now…’twas not always so.” Keep this in mind.
Now, You’re the Great Man
We believe that years earlier, Maximus and Lucilla conceived a child together (Lucius). It is most probable that Maximus did not know that he fathered a child with Lucilla. Since there was a time when her father did not favor Maximus, we believe that Lucilla kept the truth of Lucius’ paternity a secret from everyone. The only person who may have discovered the placement of Maximus in Lucius’s life might have been Commodus. This would explain one reason why Commodus was so quick to threaten the boy’s life. Now, there are several reasons why Commodus continued to take that position. This might have been one of those reasons.
