Jamie Foxx Mocks Stevie Wonder

Jamie Foxx mocks the sight impaired

Who cares if you can entertain a crowd if you show the world that you have no class at the same time?  Jamie Foxx, you were presented with something called the “Ultimate Icon Award” on June 9th at the BET Awards.  You cried while accepting the award while speaking about your health scare, your religion and how thankful you are for a second chance to “do right”.  We empathize with what you have gone through and we are happy that you are alive and well.

Unfortunately, you made it a point to mock the great Stevie Wonder while on stage.  We couldn’t believe that you actually made fun of the fact that he could not see exactly where you were while attempting to hand you your award.  Jamie Foxx, you studied Ray Charles.  You did an excellent job portraying Ray Charles and that is what earned you your Oscar.  Surely you understand at least from an actor’s perspective what it is to navigate this world without the gift of sight.

Despite all of your study and preparation to take on a sight impaired role, you showed that you really have no respect for the challenges of the sight impaired.  You made a cheap, tasteless joke at the expense of a true icon, while he was on stage with you.  He was unaware of your joke because you silently and foolishly performed it.  That was the true ugly nature of your act.  When the camera panned the crowd, your mature daughter (Corinne) showed an expression of shock as she appeared to motion for you to stop.   Jamie Foxx (Eric Marlon Bishop), we want to cheer for you.  We want to be proud of you.  It’s extremely unfortunate that you have found it necessary to humiliate yourself and dishonor an icon in the process.  You made a public mockery of the sight-impaired community and of Stevie Wonder in particular.  You owe the sight-impaired community, Stevie Wonder, his team and his family a public apology.

That’s what ithinkie.

Let us know what you think.
