Superman 2025 Movie Review

Superman 2025 Movie Review

Ok, here is my Superman 2025 Movie Review, just for you.  Let me start by letting you guys know that I really don’t care much for the DC Universe, personally.  All they’ve done is circle a handful of characters and bounce around the iterations of each one.  For instance, there are like three separate Batman versions in the same timeline?  Most honest fans would agree that the work of the DC Universe has reflected a pathetic, rushed  attempt at a money grab for like the past decade plus.  This of course excludes the Christopher Nolan trilogy, which is a timeless, magnificent work of art.  Unfortunately, it’s like the DC Universe brass has been “marveling” at Marvel (see what I did there) and just hoping that they could compete.

Here’s the Truth

DC comics has TONS of characters that are awesome in it’s catalog.  All it really takes is the courage and creativity to bring any of them to the screen.  All DC really has to do is be consistent and intentional about an overall theme and direction for the Universe.  The same way that Marvel built to Infinity War, DC should build to…I’ll save that for DC directly.  Here’s a hint…it’s not Crisis on Infinite Earths.  DC also needs to be patient and take the full time to develop each character one-by-one so that we ACTUALLY care about each character, independent of the others.   Side note: I don’t like the fact that James left Marvel for DC.

Ok, Let’s Get to Why We are Here

I enjoy going into a movie and being impressed.  That’s to say, if I go tired, thinking that I’ll definitely fall asleep, it’s nice if the film’s so great that I feel energized the whole way through, like when I saw the excellent Jurassic World in 2015.  Another time was when I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014.  For Guardians in particular, I saw the trailers and I really thought that it was going to be stupid.  I was wrong.  It was fantastic.

The Same Thing Happened

I saw the trailers for this new Superman Movie,  and I was like, “Here we go again.”  I just knew that this was going to be a disaster.  I mean, who would cast Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luther?  That was just one of a series of questions and reasons that this was going to be a flop.  Then there was alllll of the hype from these Superdog lovers.  I like dogs too, but a cape?  I mean come on!

Was I Wrong?

Well, I am happy to say that I was wrong about this one.  Superman was pretty great.  I mean, it was interesting.  There were performances that I believed in.  I rooted for the characters.  I rooted for Superman.  I felt the connection that he had with the Kents and with Lois…and with his dog…and his robots.  I’m glad I went to see this one.  I think you should go too.  Good job, James.

That’s what ithinkie.
